To Tide You Over...

...till I get back to regularly scheduled posts.

Yesterday, we went to the creek again and had a picnic. This time my mom went with us and snapped these first two shots. We're acting all goofy on top of the hay bale!

She's so gonna hate me one day for always trying to lick her in pictures. But she tastes so good! LOL!

She's fake sleeping in this pic. We were both laying out on the hay bales and enjoying the breeze and the sunshine.

Spring has sprung in these here parts.

These are so cheerful. They never fail to bring a smile to my face.

More signs of spring.

So delicate.

These blue bottles are all around the magnolia tree at my grandmother's place. I love 'em. So shiny and blue.

Is this what they mean by rolling in the hay? Cause if so, Max has it down.

City kids have cable. We have rotten logs to kick.

First attempt at climbing a tree. I've tried for years to get her to do this. But, she finally caved in. I took her to the HUGE magnolia tree in my grandmother's yard and showed her which limbs to use.

Success!

Happy Tuesday!

Good Saturday Morning!

Good Saturday morning to all of you!I had some more housecleaning to do, so....off we go!

First off, Light of My Life has gotten the jewelry making bug from her mama.

Santa brought her a bunch of jewelry making stuff and she's been working like a demon.

She's decided that she wants to put it up on etsy to sell. I told her I would make her her own etsy shop to sell her wares.

When I asked her what she was going to do with the money she makes, she told me (and no joke here, all her ideas) that she is going to put half towards her Disney money (we're hopefully going in May) and the other half in her savings account.

I am so proud of her.Anyway, here's the link to her shop. There's also a few pics for you to view.

I also received an award from someone that I WOULD LOVE TO MEET in real life. I "met" her through a RL friend who also blogs. Small world, huh? Anyway, she's awesome. She just had a baby a few months ago. She also has killer recipes on her blog.

Here's the rules for this one:

Here's the Friend Bloggy Award Scoop:

These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.

Wow. So cool. Thanks again Lisa over at Growing Up Mo' for the beautiful award.

I'll have to think on this one and get back to you guys.

Then, Diane over at Good Mourning, Glory tagged me with this:

Go to my fourth folder & pick out the fourth picture. No cropping or editing allowed. Here it is.

This is a picture of LOML and her cousin whom she met for the very first time a few weeks ago. This is my cousin's child. They hit it off right away. I have more pics from this trip, but haven't posted about it yet. I love their rosy cheeks and you can see the windswept hair.

That's all I got today, folks. We're heading to the big city for some birthday shopping (my mom's b-day was Thursday) and dinner. Plus a little Chuck E Cheese for LOML and her friend. I think I'm more excited about Chuck E Cheese than they are!

Mama Dawg vs. Mighty Mouse Part 2

Well, if you've been a regular reader of mine for a while now, you'll know that round 1 happened quite a while ago. Since that time, we've had several more mice that I've caught in the mean traps (the ones that snap their tiny necks).

People, I just can't care any more about a mouse's life. Yes, they're cute. Yes, they're a distant relative of my favorite mouse in the whole world (Mickey)....but, they're nasty. And they ate an ENTIRE box of whole wheat pasta plus a small bag of sunflower seeds as well some cat food.

Last night, when I got home from work, LOML was so excited because she caught a mouse. She said she was in the kitchen and heard a rustling noise in the dog food bag. When she opened it up, she saw a mouse. She quickly closed the bag so he wouldn't escape and my mom put a clip on the top to keep it sealed.

I went in the kitchen and took a look inside the bag. It was a mouse all right. A baby one at that. Not a newborn, but one that was about 1 1/2 inches long. He was so CUTE!

But, I had to harden my heart.

While I was standing there in the kitchen, I heard the sound of little feet running in the shelves and I knew that there was another mouse somewhere in there.

Even though I knew it was foolish, I started pulling boxes off the shelf and lo and behold! Another baby mouse! Except this one was trapped. And was just young enough to not know to try to escape no matter how desperate the situation was. And because he didn't move, I was able to get the humane trap right in front of him and herded him into the trap! I then added his brother to the mix. I dropped a cube of cheese inside. Since I didn't want them coming back, my MO is to drive farther out to the country than I already am and let them go. Then they can become someone else's problem!

Anyway, here's some pics of the prisoners mice.

Aren't they adorable?

Here's a video of Max and his reaction to these teeny tiny harmless mice.

How's your Thursday so far?

A Cautionary Christmas Tale by Dave and Bob

Dave and Bob decided that they wanted to go out and cut down their own Christmas trees for their families at a local tree farm. They trudged through many, many acres of trees and saw a stand of trees far off in the distance that looked perfect.

Dave and Bob made their way to said trees and stood around admiring them in all their glory.

All of a sudden, Bob said, "Dave, do you smell something? Holy crap, what's that stomping noise?"

Dave, being clueless as usual, heard and smelled nothing and continued on admiring the trees.

A shadow looms over the dandy duo as they start to get out their equipment.

Suddenly, Bob feels something rather large breathing down his neck. He turns and sees Missy the Moose bearing down on their rather tiny bodies.
Bob starts screaming like a little bitch, "Run Dave, for God's sake, run like the wind."

Alas, Dave wasn't quite quick enough. As Bob stood there screaming like a little girl at Dave, "Run to the fucking trees, you moron!", Missy the Moose raises her rather large size 400 hoof and proceeds to step on Dave's head.

Bob just stands there in disbelief. His friend had just been stepped on by a rather disproportional moose that had an idiotic grin on her face.

Moral of the story:

Don't let Mama Dawg get within ten feet of a camera when she's been making a bazillion cupcakes for various parties and there are all sort of goodies in the kitchen that she can play with. Especially keep her away from icing, die cut sprinkles and giant mooses (moosi? moose?) that, no kidding, shit jelly beans.

Writer's Workshop

I'm taking the easy way out.

I'm doing the 6th photo assignment that reads:

Tag! Post and write about the 6th picture of the 6th folder on your Flickr (or similar) account and then do the same for the 6th picture of the 6th folder on your computer.

This is the 6th photo I have on my ONLY folder in Flickr.

This is a picture of my dog Max racing my cousin dog Bailey at my grandmother's place. All Light of My Life is lacking is a pair of capris and a scarf in her hand and this would totally be the scene from Grease when Cha Cha DiGregorio "assisted" Danny and Leo in their pink slips race. You know what scene I'm talking about. Quit frontin' like you've never watched Grease.

Bailey is clearly the winner in this picture. I chalk it up to her being an older female. Cause we ROCK!

This is the 6th photo on my ONLY folder of pictures on my computer.

What's with all the dog pics?

I guess I'm living up to the literal title of my blog!

This is Bailey telling Max "You're just a stupid little puppy. You will soon learn that I'M the queen of the universe. That's right, you little runt, bow...I said BOW!"

And Max is totally giving in. He's a little whipped. Sigh......boy needs to grow some balls.

Oh, wait, that's right. He does have them. Just ask my right leg.

P.S. Oh and regarding my last post? I'm not worried about finding love again. I don't want it. At least, not right now. I'm not at that place in my life where I could handle that. And even if I was in that place, I simply DON'T want it.

This Shot Was Totally Set Up

Awwwww....I was so cute in high school.

Thanks to Damon Burke for the blast from the past.

I love how flat chested I look in this. In reality, they were SPECTACULAR!!!

But, not so much any more.

Here's some more shots. This was at my senior Homecoming Dance. I, a senior, asked a FRESHMAN to the dance. Let me tell you, this was the best DAMN DANCE EVER. I had more fun with this freshman than I had with any other guy.

Here's my attempt at a sexy pic for my now ex-husband. I was slightly tipsy when this was taken. As you can tell by my sleepy eyes.

This is me on Decade Day at my high school. I'm the hippie. My friend, J, is the lovely Jackie O.

I don't know why I love this picture. It was taken by a kid that I was baby sitting for. But I love the carefree aspect of it.

This is me on the first day of 8th grade. I always made a big production of dressing up on the first day. My nails even matched. Yeah, I was a dork!

Enjoy!
Happy Day Before Thanksgiving!
