Mama Needs Some Cash

As most of you know, we're getting ready to go visit the Mouse next weekend.

Even though I got a great deal on my package (hee, hee, I said package), you still need some spending cash...you know, for food and whatnot.

I've saved up some but could always use a little more.

My creative juices got to flowing recently (funny how that worked out when I needed some spare cash) and I made some new earrings and lanyards for my etsy shop.

I have this one pair of earrings that I bought way back in my early 20's. I paid about $10 for them. I adore them and wear them often.

I took a good hard look at them one day and realized that I could easily make them. And sell them for a lot less.

Below are the earrings that were spawned out of that creative thought.

If you see a pair you like, please, by all means, head on over the right side of my blog and click on my etsy shop. I've got tons more than what I've shown on here. These are just my personal favs.

Now that it's the end of the school year, some of you may be wondering what to get that special teacher in your kids life as a thank you for edumacatin' your kid.

My lanyards are the PERFECT gift for any teacher. They keep their pockets free of i.d. badges and keys.

If you don't have a teacher in your life (or, really, your kids life), you can always purchase one of these bad boys for any lady in your life that has an office job where badges or keys are an everyday item that they use. Not only are they handy, but they're pretty, too!

Again, this is just a small sampling of what I've made recently. Head on over to my shop to see more!

This is one of my more INEXPENSIVE lanyards that I've made. Since the economy has taken a dump on many of our finances, I made a few lanyards that are mostly made up of acrylic (as opposed to glass, which many of mine are made from) beads. I sell them for about half the price of the regular ones.

LOML got in a creative mood as well and made several new pairs of earrings as well as 2 bracelets.

If you have a little girl in your life, you will want to check out her latest creations. She also takes special orders. Just drop her an e-mail or a convo and she'll get cracking on it. Just ask Sassy Stephanie. She'll tell you!

LOML's etsy is over the right, as well. Just click and peruse!

Thanks everyone for indulging me in a bit of self-promotion. Some of my best customers have come from my loyal blog readers.

Good Saturday Morning!

Good Saturday morning to all of you!I had some more housecleaning to do, so....off we go!

First off, Light of My Life has gotten the jewelry making bug from her mama.

Santa brought her a bunch of jewelry making stuff and she's been working like a demon.

She's decided that she wants to put it up on etsy to sell. I told her I would make her her own etsy shop to sell her wares.

When I asked her what she was going to do with the money she makes, she told me (and no joke here, all her ideas) that she is going to put half towards her Disney money (we're hopefully going in May) and the other half in her savings account.

I am so proud of her.Anyway, here's the link to her shop. There's also a few pics for you to view.

I also received an award from someone that I WOULD LOVE TO MEET in real life. I "met" her through a RL friend who also blogs. Small world, huh? Anyway, she's awesome. She just had a baby a few months ago. She also has killer recipes on her blog.

Here's the rules for this one:

Here's the Friend Bloggy Award Scoop:

These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.

Wow. So cool. Thanks again Lisa over at Growing Up Mo' for the beautiful award.

I'll have to think on this one and get back to you guys.

Then, Diane over at Good Mourning, Glory tagged me with this:

Go to my fourth folder & pick out the fourth picture. No cropping or editing allowed. Here it is.

This is a picture of LOML and her cousin whom she met for the very first time a few weeks ago. This is my cousin's child. They hit it off right away. I have more pics from this trip, but haven't posted about it yet. I love their rosy cheeks and you can see the windswept hair.

That's all I got today, folks. We're heading to the big city for some birthday shopping (my mom's b-day was Thursday) and dinner. Plus a little Chuck E Cheese for LOML and her friend. I think I'm more excited about Chuck E Cheese than they are!

Pimpin'

Yeah, it's that time again. Time for me to pimp my stuff.

However, it's a legit pimpin'.

'Cause it's the holidays, y'all.

Didn't ya know?

If you're looking for the perfect gift for your child's teacher or for that lady you know who wears a badge or keys around her neck at her job, my lanyards are the PERFECT gift!

The ones below are a small sampling of what I have to offer.

I can custom make a lanyard to match the school colors of the teacher.

I can just flat out make a custom lanyard! If you don't see a color scheme or theme that you like, just send me an e-mail and I can make one.

If it's a custom order, I need to have all orders in by December 15th to insure they get made and delivered to your doorstep.

I call this one, the Flight of the Bumblebee.

This one is for that ladybug lover in your life.

I love the Asian inspired theme of this one. These are some of my favorite beads and the color combination is to die for.

I LOVE this one. It's made completely of glass beads and is very classy.

I've gotten the most comments on this one from friends and family. I love the color combo.

If lanyards aren't your thing, check out my jewelry sets.
This one is understated and very simple. It works well with jeans and a twinset or you can use it to compliment your party togs during the holidays.

I love the color scheme on this one. Perfect for the holidays.

These next two sets are perfect for your little girl.

So, come check me out at my etsy shop The Briar Patch. (click on the name for a direct link).
You can also get to me via my sidebar on the right.
I'll be hosting a contest later this week, so make sure you come back!
Thanks for looking.

Pimping My Stuff

Ok, peeps.

I gotta take the time now to pimp my etsy.

I know, I know. Most of you aren't interested.

But for the few of you that are, I've added some new stuff to the shop. In addition, I've made some changes.

Y'all know that I sell the sunglasses cords, but I now have a policy that if you like a sunglasses cord but would prefer to have a lanyard instead, I can convert any of them I have for sale at no extra charge.

I recently had a referral from one of you (thanks Kat at Sunshine and Lemonade) and sold three cords that I had converted at her request to lanyards. It was easy to do and didn't take much extra time.

Parents-you know how you usually end up getting the teachers in your kids life soaps and lotions and whatnot? How about this year, getting them a lanyard for their ID badges. Pretty AND practical. The Nice One brought up a good point. I can CUSTOM make the lanyards in your school colors or themes. This may take a little extra time if I have to do a special order, but only by a week or so.

Not only that, but I have a couple of necklace and bracelet sets that would be perfect for that special little girl in your life.

So, without further ado......here's the highlights of my etsy. If anything strikes you, feel free to purchase. If something doesn't strike your fancy but you know of someone who might like it, please, share the link with them. Tell everyone you know. Think of the holidays. They will be upon us shortly and you may just be looking for that perfect item for someone special (or not special) in your life and it might just be at my shop.

This is the perfect necklace and bracelet set as a gift for someone for Christmas.

I just love how these sterling silver earrings turned out. Perfect to dress up a pair of jeans and a plain tee or to accompany a hot new outfit.

This is a sunglasses cord that can be converted to a lanyard. Perfectly in time for Halloween.

Here's another one that can be converted to a lanyard. I love the colors in this. Pink, orange, red and copper. So pretty.

This is one of my favorite pieces for a little girl. I can just picture this at Christmas time on a little girl wearing a green velvet dress at church or for a family portrait.

Thanks for looking and indulging me in my new endeavor.

Hey Internets!!!

Got some new stuff up at etsy.

I got some new sunglasses cords and some jewelry. Please be gentle on my jewelry...it's some of the first stuff I made a while back and I haven't done anything with it. It's my first time to try to sell it and it's just o.k. stuff. I have much better designs in mind, but I'm really digging my sunglasses cords right now. That's what I'm pretty much concentrating on for the moment.

Anyway, go have a look-see.

Thanks.

Buy My Stuff!!!!!

Oh.....I went and D-U-N it (like Natalie from Big Brother says).

I opened an Etsy shop. It's over there on the right side above my blogroll.

Achhhhh...I hate putting myself out there like this, but mama needs gas money.

That and I truly enjoy making these things.

Right now, I'm starting off with my sunglasses/glasses cords.

You know, the ones that you attach to your sunglasses or glasses to keep from losing them? Yeah, like what your granny wears...except mine are cooler.

At least, I think so.

I made a few several years ago when we first went to Disney World. I made my mom, light of my life and myself one and they worked perfect there.

I have to ALWAYS wear sunglasses (even if it's overcast) or else I get bitchy (er). But I'm notorious for losing them in theme parks. Yes, I've been to enough theme parks to actually develop a HABIT of losing my sunglasses in them.

Light of my life made her own (picked out the beads and strung 'em). She still has hers.

Last year, when my neighbor was going to Disney with her mom, friend, sister in law and her two daughters, she asked me to make some for her and her group. I obliged and the funniest thing was...she PAID me to do it!

Ding, ding...lightbulb over the head time!

Due to the move and getting all my stuff set up, I've just now gotten to the point where I can start this whole thing over again.

Hence...etsy!

Anyway, I'll periodically add new cords on there when I get a chance to upload photos and all that stuff.

Man, I really need a home computer.

I also have a couple of other things that I make that I'll add on as well.

Stay tuned!

Later,

Mama Dawg

P.S. Thanks in advance for looking! And by all means, tell your friends and family about them as well. I'll even go so far as giving you permission to add this to your blog! How's that for generosity? Never say I didn't give you anything, Internets!!!

P.S.S. Wanna know something funny? After all the hullabaloo of making the sunglasses cord so I wouldn't lose my sunglasses...I left my sunglasses AND the cord on the Kilimanjaro Safari ride at Animal Kingdom last year! Hey, I never said that they would prevent you from taking them off and putting them in the pouch for fear that they would bounce off during the bumpy ride and then getting up and leaving the vehicle while your poor sunglasses and beautiful sunglasses cord stayed behind. I'm not a miracle worker!
